Description

PX4 Flight Management Unit v1.7

The PX4 Flight Management Unit is a high-performance autopilot targeted towards high-end research, amateur and industry needs. It's suitable for fixed wing, multi rotors, helicopters, cars, boats and any other robotic platform that can move. The PX4 FMU is an expandable, modular system comprising the PX4FMU Flight Management Unit (autopilot) and a number of optional interface modules (PX4IO, PX4IOAR).

In addition to the versatile PX4 FMU hardware platform, the PX4 introduces a sophisticated, modular software environment built on top of a POSIX like real-time operating system. The operating system and modular architecture support greatly simplify the process of experimenting with specific components of the system, this helps in reducing the barriers for new developers.

Standardized interface protocols between software components means adding support for new sensors, peripherals and expansion modules is straightforward. The on board micro SD storage permits logging at high-rates and data storage for custom applications. The MAVLink protocol support provides integration directly with existing ground control systems including QGroundControl and the APM Mission Planner.

Features:
  • ARM Cortex-M4F micro controller running at 168MHz with DSP and floating-point hardware acceleration.
  • 1024 KB of flash memory, 192 KB of RAM.
  • MEMS accelerometer and gyro, magnetometer and barometric pressure sensor.
  • Flexible expansion bus and on board power options.
  • The kit includes a micro USB cables, four nylon spacers and a cable connector for GPS (Mediatek / 3DR LEA 6 GPS uBlox).
  • Board weight, 8.10 gr

Interfaces:
  • 4x UART, 2x I2C, 1x SPI, 1x CAN.
  • External magnetometer port (I2C1 or I2C3, compatible with this board: 3DR magnetometer breakout board).
  • MicroSD slot.
  • PPM / RC control input (sum signal format, many compatible receivers, including the Futaba 7c all channels on one connector).
  • Up to 8 GPIO, 2 25mA high power, up to 6 PWM (servo out).
  • Battery sense (1-18V), Buzzer (up to 1.0 A, VBAT driven).
  • Reverse polarity protection on all power inputs.
  • Buzzer (PWM) output.
  • JTAG / SWD (ARM-Mini 10 pos / 0.05” connector).

Revision notes from 1.6 to 1.7:

  • Fix for SD Card function.

  • BMA 180 sensor removed and left unpopulated, current board will work with MPU6000 sensor.
