Description

ArduPilot Mega 2.6 External Compass

This is a an easy to install custom made 3-axis digital compass board based on the Honeywell's HMC5883L compass chip for the ArduPilot Mega 2.5+ and especially for ArduPilot Mega 2.6 boards which no longer have the compass built in to the main boards.

Installing the ArduPilot Mega external compass board further away from interference sources like ESC's or power distribution boards your flight accuracy will be higher as there will be reduction in the strong magnetic interference cause by these parts of the system.

Please note when you install the compass unit you need to make sure it is pointing in the correct direction, and it needs to be in line with the ArduPilot Mega so they are both running parallel when installed or there can be inaccuracies in the compass / GPS information used by the ArduPilot Mega

When using on APM2.5+ boards you need to disable internal compass. APM2.6 board you only need to activate if from Mission Planner.
