Description: The Flite Test Edge 540 is based on the well known RedBull Air Race Zivko Edge 540 V3. The Flite Test Edge 540 truly captures the Edge 540's design lines and extreme aerobatic capabilities, from gentle loops and rolls to punishing 3D maneuvers testing both aircraft and pilot to the max.
Like many of the larger Flite Test designs, the Edge 540 has a one-piece removable wing making the model much more easily transported. Combined with the large removable canopy allows great access into the fuselage for the battery and electronics. The undercarriage is removable and also optional depending on where you choose to fly. This also means if the undercarriage becomes damaged it is very easy to remove and replace. Optional wheel spats can be added for increased scale looks but are better suited to runways with very short grass or tarmac.
Side Force Generators to also be added to the wingtips to help with knife-edge flight maneuvers. There are also free 3D printable race-style wingtips than can be downloaded for free and printed at home, again allowing the pilot to customize the aircraft to their taste.
The Edge 540 has been optimized for extreme 3D aerobatics using large powerful control surfaces, a light wing loading and powerful motor setup. This model is recommended for more experienced pilots and advanced 3D pilots who wish to enhance their flying skills, and dare to try new things without the risk of damaging an expensive 3D airplane.
